Viva La Vegas!

I am planning a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada right now. Partly it is because of the Wold Poker Championships that I saw on teeeveee, and partly because I am crossing the states from coast to coast and think it is a good excuse to go.

Right now I am looking for hotels. So suggestions are always welcome. I normally stay at the Rio, but I want something new.
Maybe Paris or the Bellagio. yuk yuk
Truth is though, aside from a preternatural aversion to spending a lot of money on hotels (I mean you sleep there, right? I also like the feeling of old school Vegas more. Places like the Gold Coast and their ilk are more fun to me than some faux-posh casino.

Here are my thoughts on some of the hotels:
Aladdin - A bit goofy.
Bellagio - Like cocaine, I think it is for people who don't know how to spend their money.
Luxor - Great marketing department, the name was obviously picked by the same people that think up names for drugs like Viagra. The most intersting thing about this hotel is the number of despondent people that kill themselves by jumping inside the hotel.
MGM Grand - This is a great place to go if you are a rap star or a boxer. That seems to be who I see there mostly. The type of place where people play roulette.
Camelot - Great one if you like medieval re-enactment dinner.
Circus Circus - One word sums up this hotel. Pink. It is like a young flamingo went to school one day with a machine gun.
Frontier - Funny, I don't remember a thing about this one.
Palace Station Old school. But it smells a bit funky.
Stratosphere - Does this one even exist anymore?
The Rio - This is where I usually stay. Ignore the crappy Brazil theme. It is as similar to Brazil as Bethesda, Maryland. However, the cocktail waitresses don't wear hardly anything. I've found good craps tables and sometimes the disco goes off.
Fitzgeralds Another one that didn't make any impression at all.
Four Queens - You can actually feel the broken dreams when you walk in.
Golden Nugget - I think this one actually has a gold nugget in it somewhere. Or maybe it was a miillion dollars in cash, so you can look at and drool. If that is your thing. This place is an antique.
Mandalay Bay This one seems really gay. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Caesar's Palace - Not a big fan. This one that people go to if they can't afford the Belaggio (oops, Bellagio) but they still want to feel like a player (high-roller).
The Gold Coast - This place is the greatest. Everyone is old and angry and smells bad. But it is accross the street from the Rio, so if you get tired of watching old people pump their pensions into slot machines, and are sick of the cheap craps tables, you can duck across the street to hang out in swankness. It is cheap, and that sticks with my philosophy of not spending too much money to sleep. There is no entertainment, but there is plenty of bingo.
The Mirage - Home of Siegfried & Roy. You shouldn't play with wild animals.
New York, New York - "Shaddap!" "F*&% you!" It is eerily similar to being in New York.

Did I forget any?

Oh yeah The Hard Rock Casino - I normally avoid Hard Rock establishements like the plague. I thinkn they all suck. But this place is cool. It is crawling with good looking people and I usually win there. It is worth checking out.
